Bee-utiful!” Thanks God!

Last week my husband and I, our two sons, our daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren vacationed in a house by the ocean in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. We had a wonderful time together as a family. Yesterday my daughter-in-law, Sarah, called to tell us what our three-year-old grandson, Connor, had said in his bedtime prayer.

“God, thank you for my “bee-utiful” room at Grandma and Grandpa’s beach house.”

It made me laugh because, first of all, Connor is always cracking me up, and I could just hear him saying “bee-utiful”. Second, “Grandpa” and I don’t have a beach house, but to Connor, it was ours.

Kids come up with the most amazing things, don’t they? In this case, Connor’s prayer made me laugh, not only because I think he is funny (hey, I’m the grandma!), but it also delighted me because of his gratitude for something special that we had provided for him. It warmed my heart that he noticed and appreciated his and Nathan’s room at the beach house. How glad I am that he thanked God for this blessing!

As I am writing this, I am in my family room looking out into the backyard. God has given us so much beauty to enjoy! It’s summertime! Look around and notice all the wonders God has created----flowers, trees, life! Let it refresh and restore you and remember to tell God “thanks”.

Father God, thank you for the “bee-utiful room” you have provided for us to enjoy. Your creation amazes and delights us. Open our eyes and hearts to see you as we enjoy what you have given.

1 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
