A View from the Street
If you don’t believe Stark County has a homeless problem consider that ICAN met 776 homeless people in 12 months.
The costs of human suffering are harder to measure but no less real. Mental health professionals estimate up to 80% of homeless people who find housing experience an immediate reduction in symptoms.
ICAN offers solutions. It is a point of entry for services people need, with a goal to move them from emergency housing and isolation to permanent homes and mental health treatment.
Please help us help ICAN in their mission to restore mentally ill homeless persons to better health and productive lives. Decide that you will become part of the solution atICAN.
How Can You Help?
There are 2 ways....
DONATION OF
GENTLY-USED FURNITURE
& HOUSEHOLD GOODS
The program’s priority is to provide immediate access to safe and affordable housing for persons living on the street. Until they resolve their housing crisis they are unable to focus on establishing an income and working their plan for recovery
ICAN serves the homeless and that means we are always in need of common household items and gently used furniture. Just give them a call and they will pick up your items. You can reach ICAN at 455-9100 to arrange a pick-up.
Items Needed Immediately! These items are either depleted or nearly so….
- Blankets
- Sheets (single size)
- Pillows
- Dishes
- Pots and Pans
- Bath towels
- Can openers to give out with canned food
Please donate any usable sofas, lamps, single bed frames, and kitchen sets. ICAN's clients often work hard to save money for an apartment, but have no funds to acquire even the most basic items. You can help with your donation of furniture or funds.
Any donation to ICAN is tax-deductible. Donors receive a thank you letter documenting the donation for tax purposes.
DONATION OF NEW
TOILETRIES, TOWELS,
COATS & GLOVES
ICAN needs both personal supplies and laundry supplies. They don’t collect used clothing because so many other agencies do. However, if people have bathrobes to donate people using our showers can use the bathrobes while they wait for their clothes to dry.
Personal needs:
Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Deodorant,
Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Disposable razors,
Shaving cream, Tampons and pads, Washcloths
Towels, Laundry detergent
Just one other note – Though they don’t collect clothes we do take coats and gloves.
By "adopting" ICAN, we can, as a church, help these homeless people in need. Stay tuned for service projects that we can do as part of the Perry Christian Church Community Outreach.

May God Bless everyone of you who donate!
