What Is the Prayer Team All About?
What is the Perry Christian Prayer Ministry Team all about?
The Prayer Ministry Team is a group of individuals in the church who are devoted to promoting the importance of prayer in our church. We have made it our mission to reach out to the congregation and surrounding community through the act of prayer.
Of course Christians pray, so why a special group? Prayer is the foundation of our relationship with Christ. It is how we communicate with Him and strengthen our reliance on Him. Just because members attend church, it doesn’t mean they spend time in prayer. We want to promote the importance of personal and corporate prayer in our church and in the lives of its members.
Why should I come forward during the service to have someone pray with me? It is true that each of us can express our own personal prayers. But there is power in knowing that someone else is praying for our needs that goes beyond words. Each of us has vowed to continue to pray for each of your requests throughout the week, not just on Sunday morning. And your prayer request is as private as you would like it to be. If you want it to be passed on to the pastors and Elders, we will do that; if not, it can be just for you and your one special prayer partner.
What and where is the Prayer Room? It is a classroom off the hall outside of the Java Hut. A prayer warrior goes in there during each worship service to pray for the pastors, the service, the congregation and all those involved in the service. It is a way to ask God’s blessing on the service and to request the Holy Spirit to work among us during our time of worship. Also, if you do not feel comfortable coming forward to the front of the church for prayer, you can always go to the Prayer Room and pray with a prayer warrior there.
What is the Wednesday evening prayer gathering all about? Every Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. anyone who is devoted to prayer meets in the Parlor for corporate prayer. This is not another service.
You do not have to pray out loud, but you may. It is led by a member of the congregation. We always pray for our church, the leaders and helpers to be in God’s will so His family will grow, plus we have a theme each week (see the back of this handout), but the prayer is never limited to just those subjects. Each prayer gathering lasts 20-30 minutes. It is an opportunity to join in a powerful corporate prayer is a small group environment.
What is the prayer chain e-mail, and how do I get involved? The prayer chain is a means for many to pray for a specific need. This e-mail is sent to those who request to be on the prayer chain, and we ask that discretion be used so that it does not become a means for gossip. Only specific prayers and church activities will be forwarded. If you would like to be included on the prayer chain list serve, please give your e-mail address to a Prayer Ministry Team member or the church office.
How can I become a part of this ministry? Contact any member of our Prayer Ministry Team or the church office to let us know how you would like to get involved. If you feel comfortable praying with others, you can be an individual who comes forward during the services or help lead on Monday evenings. If you prefer to pray silently in the Prayer Room during the worship services, we can always use more prayer warriors.
Current members of the Prayer Ministry Team are: Dan Sabatucci, Manning and Pat Walker, Pam Lung, Jeff Walker, Cindy Macli, Beth Macli and Craig Ott.
John 17:23 - … May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
